On February 24, 2011 Buzz will be at Cape Canaveral to see the Shuttle launch of the Discovery STS-133.

“I was happy to personally witness the final launch of our Shuttle Discovery on Thursday, February 23rd. The countdown went smoothly. Everyone was calm and confident. Once the engines fired, the thunderous roar was unmistakable. The white billowed cloud plume left a thick trail cutting through the sky that could be seen for many miles.

Thanks to the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation director and staff for accompanying me to the launch activities. The work ASF is doing to provide scholarships for youth in astronautics, engineering and related fields is outstanding to encourage America’s future generation of space explorers.”
